Terms of Service

1. Who we are

CIAI is the California Institute of Artificial Intelligence, operated by CIAI, LLC (“CIAI”, “we”, “us”). Our courses are delivered on ArthurAI™, a learning platform licensed from MindHYVE.ai, Inc.

2. You must be 18 or older

CIAI is for adults. You may create an account, apply, or buy a course only if you are 18 or older and able to enter into this agreement.

3. Your account

• Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
• An account is for one person. Do not share it or let anyone else use it.
• Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
• You can download a copy of the information your account holds, and delete your account, at any time from your account settings in the app. Our privacy policy explains what deletion removes and what we have to keep.
• Deleting your account ends your access to every course in it, including courses you paid for. Deleting an account is not a refund request; see the refund policy below.

4. Courses and prices

Lesson 1 of every personal course is free. After that, personal courses are priced at $49 (quick), $99 (standard) or $199 (deep), and buying your whole personal path together is 20% off. Other courses in the CIAI catalogue show their price in the app before you buy.

The price shown at checkout, including any promotion code accepted there, is the price you pay. Prices can change, but a change never affects a course you have already bought.

When you buy a course you get access to it in your account for your own learning, for as long as your account stays open and the purchase is not refunded.

5. AI Professional 360™

AI Professional 360™ is CIAI’s professional programme: 18 Courses · 360 Hours · 12 Months. Places are offered by application. Applying is free and does not commit you to anything. Once you are admitted, we send you your payment options.

Tuition is $5,250. You can pay:

• in full, with one payment of $5,250;
• by monthly plan: 12 monthly payments of $437.50 ($5,250 in total). By choosing the monthly plan you authorise us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method each month until the 12 payments are complete. The plan then ends on its own;
• by employer or sponsor invoice, which we send to the organization you name; or
• with a scholarship or sponsored place, if one is offered to you.

Learners who complete the programme requirements receive the CIAI Professional Certificate in Applied & Agentic Artificial Intelligence.

6. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Sales tax is added where it applies. You must use a payment method you are allowed to use. We never see or store your full card number.

7. Refunds

You may request a full refund of a course or programme you purchased from CIAI within 14 days of the date of purchase, provided that less than 20% of that course or programme has been completed.

A request made more than 14 days after the date of purchase, or after 20% or more of the course or programme has been completed, is not eligible for a refund under this policy.

8. How to request a refund

Send your request through our contact page (choose “Refund request”) using the email address on your account or the one you paid with. Include the name of the course or programme and the date of purchase.

9. What a refund does

When a purchase is refunded in full, your access to the courses it paid for ends, unless you also hold a course through another purchase. Your progress, notes and messages to Arthur stay in your account unless you delete them. A partial refund does not change your access.

10. Certificates

CIAI certificates, including the CIAI Professional Certificate in Applied & Agentic Artificial Intelligence, are issued by CIAI to show that you completed a CIAI course or programme. They are not academic degrees or professional licences, and CIAI is not an accredited college or university. Whether an employer, school or professional body recognises a CIAI certificate is up to them.

11. Arthur, the AI tutor

Arthur is an AI tutor, not a person. Its lessons, feedback and answers are generated by AI. They can be incomplete or wrong. They are for learning, and they are not medical, legal, financial, tax or other professional advice. Check anything important with a qualified professional before you rely on it.

Arthur can also be wrong about CIAI itself. Only these terms and our published policies set out your rights, prices and refunds, not anything Arthur says.

Please do not share sensitive personal information with Arthur, such as health details, government ID numbers or financial account numbers. Arthur does not need them to teach you.

We limit how much Arthur and the home-page preview can be used, to keep the service fair and available for everyone.

12. No guaranteed outcomes

CIAI teaches skills that employers value. We do not promise or guarantee any job, salary, promotion, admission or business result. Your results depend on many things outside our control.

13. Using CIAI fairly

Please do not:

• copy, resell, share or publish our courses or materials, or let anyone else access them through your account;
• scrape, download in bulk, or use automated tools to access the website or app;
• try to get around usage limits or security controls, or interfere with the service;
• use Arthur or CIAI to create unlawful, harmful, hateful or harassing content, or to break anyone else’s rights;
• copy, reverse-engineer or try to extract the platform or the AI behind it.

14. Your content

What you write or upload — your answers, notes, messages to Arthur and course reviews — stays yours. You allow us to store and process it to run CIAI for you, as our privacy policy describes. If you publish a course review, you allow us to show it on CIAI.

15. Our content and trademarks

CIAI’s courses, text, graphics and software belong to CIAI or our licensors, including MindHYVE.ai, Inc. for the ArthurAI™ platform. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own learning while your access lasts. CIAI, The Dawn Directive™, AI Professional 360™ and the CIAI marks belong to CIAI; ArthurAI™ belongs to MindHYVE.ai, Inc. These terms do not give you any right to use those marks.

16. Other services

Some parts of CIAI rely on other companies’ services, such as Stripe for payments and Microsoft for sign-in. Their own terms apply when you use them. We are not responsible for services we do not control.

17. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep CIAI accurate, available and secure, but we provide the website, app and courses “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties that are not set out in these terms, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.

18. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, CIAI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim about CIAI is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

19. Suspension and closing accounts

You can stop using CIAI and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if a payment is reversed or charged back, if we are required to by law, or to protect other learners or the service. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put things right first.

If we close an account for breaking these terms, the refund policy still applies to any purchase you were entitled to have refunded. The sections on your content, our content, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law continue to apply after an account is closed.

20. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be decided by the state or federal courts located in California, and you and CIAI agree to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep any protections that the law where you live gives you.

21. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect. If you keep using CIAI after that, you accept the new terms.

22. General

These terms, together with our privacy, cookie and refund policies, are the whole agreement between you and CIAI about using CIAI. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a business that takes over CIAI, and your rights under them will stay the same.
